EIDS Consultants is commissioned to provide structural design services on this 4000 sq. ft house in Mississauga.   The client wants to add a second story on the existing house structure with a design of requirement of no intermediate columns inside the living spaces on the ground floor and second floor.  EIDS Consultants therefore providing the design with long-span wood joists and supporting beams.  Long-span joists are checked for vibration control in addition to strength and deflection.  The existing foundation system has also been verified for additional load on it.  The structure is designed under gravity, wind, snow, and seismic loads.  Structural design is done in full compliance with Ontario Building Code Part-9 and all applicable local authority requirements.
